Day 2: Eva Wong’s Government Shutdown

On the 2nd day of the year, I revisited my least favorite activity in life: climbing. This time though, I discovered a new appreciation for rope climbing as opposed to bouldering, which requires a rope, harnessing, and a partner.

The conversation of focus today revolves around Eva’s government shutdown. Having been employed by the US government as an immigration lawyer, the government shutdown has prevented her for going to work for the last week or so. And so, it appears she is spending some of her time climbing, relaxing, and essentially doing nothing. Luckily for her, she has enough in savings to last months as needed, and will get back-paid whenever the government opens up again. Who knows when that be though?…

I’m grateful that despite the amount of government corruption everywhere, she is one of perhaps many working for the benefit of the United States. I hope she has the best of luck planning her wedding for 2020.

As I looked around me amidst our catchup conversations, I couldn’t help but notice the sheer amount of physical body strength possessed by many. And so, continuing to add to my life of resolutions this year includes the need to improve my physical body strength as well in whatever way I decide in the upcoming days.
