Day 1: Theresa Bui’s New Year

Too many connections are built on social media, but I prefer to have relationships built on conversations. For this year’s blog project, I will have a different conversation every day (in person or on the phone) with a different person and document my experiences. Every conversation will help alter my personality and perception of the world in one way or another.

My first conversation of the year highlighted as Day 1 is with Theresa Bui, a friend whom I’d had since the Myspace era. We went to Kaju, our traditional food spot for some Korean tofu soup. It was a rather fitting decision to eat hot soup as the weather was California-cold outside (although we have eaten here in 105 degree weather before).

The conversation revolved mostly around New Year Resolutions and what changes to make for the upcoming year. I respect her desire to make new memories and create more enriching experiences, and hope she creates a blog of her own.

As our lives change and we become engulfed with different responsibilities that come with adulthood (her, more-so than me with her mom and wife duties), I’m glad we can still come together and reflect on our experiences and move forward to aspire towards continued happiness and positive self-improvement.

In further reflection of the given topic for my New Years Resolution my goals are to cook at least once a week, finish a different book or novel each week, and avoid alcohol, boba, & soda for as long as possible (hopefully all year). Good luck to me, good luck to Theresa, and good luck to everyone as we push forward towards fulfillment of our goals.
