B.P. is another co-worker at Rise Kohyang Middle School.

These are just some of the major news topics of the day:

Government/Business Corruption

Hacking/Identity Theft

Natural Disasters

Potential Wars

My 6th grade teacher helped me become an avid reader of news.  So much so, that I even majored in Global Studies and studied globalization and terrorism around the time period of 9/11.

Needless to say, news can be a major downer.  However, I think it is an accurate reflection of how broken we are as a human race.  Some reasons why we are broken are: selfishness (greed), perversity, violence, pride, addiction, and ignorance.  No one is completely free from or above any of these characteristics.  If we are honest with ourselves, we have all exhibited these characteristics to some degree at different points of our lives.

The solution is Love.  I am talking about Agape, which is god-like, unconditional love: Kindness, long-suffering, patience, humbleness, gentleness, forgiveness, self-control, and ultimately, putting others before yourself.  It says that there is no greater love than that which lays down one’s life for one’s friends. I think the ultimate test of life is how we treat each other and whether we genuinely lay our lives down for our families, friends, and even our enemies.

It’s seems all so simple, yet so difficult.  I’d like to end with some music:

2pac – Letter to my Unborn

“Will I raise my kids in the right or the wrong way.”

“Will my child get to feel love, or are we all just cursed to be street thugs?”

“No one knows my struggle, they only see the trouble. Not knowing it’s hard to carry on when no one loves you.”

Black Eyed Peas – Where is the Love?

“Father, Father, Father help us

Send some guidance from above

Cause people got me, got me questionin’

Where is the love?”
