Kevin Kim is my next guest blogger, a friend since middle school.

John is a good guy and a good friend. I will always remember his amazing self-made study guides that he gave out for free during our high school years. It was because of those study guides that I really had no motivation to do any studying of my own. When we both had borderline grades during Mr. Conley’s math class (John had a B+ and I had a C+), we wrote a poem together in a desperate attempt to beg him to bump our grades. It was a failed effort, but I really appreciated John’s willingness to stoop down to my level and do something completely juvenile. During the 8th grade, I tricked John into asking the administration staff for a graduation form that was required to graduate. It was a petty prank that made him ignore me for a few months. John needed a ride to his girlfriend’s choir performance, so I remember telling him that I would arrive at a certain time to pick him up, only to be late 15 minutes late. John to this day blames me for that failed high school relationship.

I always considered my friendship with John to be that of two very different but like-minded people. Regardless, John is a good friend who to this day is always willing to initiate a get together just for the sake of sharing a meal and catching up. I’m thankful that he hasn’t built up a deep hatred me towards me from all the pranks (hopefully), and look forward to our next meal where we can argue politics, hip-hop, and finances.
