The true test of any relationship is how smooth a conversation can flow. In the short story “Hills Like White Elephants”, there is clear tension between the two protagonists as they obviously have conflict over the female’s impending abortion.
In the case of my friendship with these two, our conversations always seemingly run smoothly. There is no passive aggressiveness. There is no drama. Other than a few minor details left to high school over dumb things like girls, we have had a relatively smooth friendship. Nothing denoted that better than the food we consumed at Mick’s Karma Bar. Yum. Burgers.

Afterwards, we had the real conversations at two brewerys: Barley Forge in Costa Mesa and Bootleggers in Fullerton. The conversations entailed
- Reliving our high school past
- Our potentials for the future
- Linkin Park’s death. (In the end, it doesn’t even matter)
- Music we listen to. TV shows we watch.
- Relationships. Or lack thereof.

My goal is to preserve every relationship as long as the other side is equally willing to commit in doing so. I have lost plenty of people in my life, so for each relationship that sticks with me (friendship, or otherwise), I do the best I possibly can to maintain as close contact as possible, while still living my everyday life.
