Day 9: Three Questions

In the short story “Three Questions”, the king is seeking the answer to three questions. I will attempt to answer them below.

1. When is the right time to begin something?

If you really want something done, the best time to do something is NOW. “The present is NOW”. As such, I went to the gym this morning to do some elliptical work and then later submitted my due assignments for my last course.

2. Who is the right person to listen to?

I think the best situation in life is to listen to those closest to you, especially when seeking advice. At the end of the day though, the person that knows best what to do in any given situation is the person experiencing it, i.e. yourself.

3. What is the most important thing to do?

The most important thing to do in life is to live, not necessarily for others, but for yourself as well. I find myself more purposeful in life when I am doing things for others, whether it be directly through community service, or indirectly through teaching. As much as I dread the upcoming two weeks of “professional development”, I’d much rather skip right to teaching, although it’s all a matter of guessing how they’ll ultimately behave this year.

My stamps came in the mail. With these, in combination with my posters, white boards, coloring supplies, and other things, I am ready to set up my classroom. I’m aiming for a Snapchat theme this year, with the different table groups being different Snapchat filters. Either than, or a Phil’s BBQ theme, where each table group is a different food item from Phil’s. That way, when I dismiss my students I can say “1/2 rack of ribs with large side of fries, you are dismissed from class!”
