This morning was wild. At 6:07am an emergency evacuation was issued in the surrounding areas around the chemical leak at GKN aerospace. The police sirens subsequently went off quite loudly, but not quite loud enough to wake up Kai.
I received an amber alert on my phone.
After alerting my wife we quickly got ready and went to work subsequently.
Needless to say the important thing is that we’re safe. Hopefully the chemical leak is contained and we won’t be “homeless” for much longer.
Later that day at 1:03pm, I went to help out with Kennedy’s graduation at Western High School. Out of an abundance of caution, just as the students were about to line, graduation was cancelled. I feel so sorry for them to miss their golden rite of passage, but luckily it will be rescheduled. But of course this also meant that this was the second time I had to evacuate in one day. Quite tragic. This is shaping up to be a real life episode of 24.
