May 13th, 2025 is a date that go down in the opposite of infamy.

The reason? Our child Kai Khanh Tran was born. Weighing 7 pounds and 20 inches, he will definitely not be a jock anytime soon (not on my watch anyway).

After witnessing what could be described as a pretty traumatic birthing experience, he finally came, embracing us with his big forehead. And though the first initial hours were pretty rough, losing sleep and waking up to ensure he was well fed, I’m hopeful we can provide the life for him he deserves of happiness and serenity.

After witnessing the birth, I question how can any husband in good conscious ever cheat on their wife after the labor and delivery process of bringing a life into the world? Crazy stuff.

This blog now begins its next chapter — Project Kai. He’s not just our child; he’s now the center of our world, someone we are committed to raising, guiding, and nurturing — for at least the next 18 years (but let’s be real, probably much longer).

Of course, leaving the hospital and doing things on our own will be the real test. Hopeful that our parenting skills will ensure Kai grows up to be nothing more than successful and happy, and ultimately makes the world a better place.
