A Married Christmas

It’s our first Christmas MARRIED in the Tran/Pham household. Waking up on Christmas day is much more exciting than waking up alone.

For a person that grew up never receiving presents on Christmas, the holiday to me has never been about getting gifts or even the religious aspect of it. Christmas is so much more commercialized now that you don’t even have to really be a Christian to celebrate. Instead, it’s more about the generous atmosphere of the day – Christmas movies, Christmas music, and food together as a family. Having not received gifts growing up, it’s no surprise that my lowest ranked love language by far is receiving gifts.

I have no problems giving gifts though. It’s the joy of seeing the look on children’s faces unwrapping gifts that is quite pleasant. I’m hopeful to capture those precious moments of joy in the future children of my own someday. Needless to say, I also use Christmas as a golden opportunity to give back to the parents who have worked so hard over the years to support me. Subsequently, we got them matching Ipads for them to celebrate with one another so they can watch their Vietnamese Cai Luong (operas) in peace.

Here’s hoping everybody in the world has some semblance of happiness on Christmas this year, as difficult as it may be in some places.
