What I wouldn’t give to be a child again.
Times were easier. One didn’t have to worry about going to work, going home, or even having to decide what to eat. All those decisions were made by the people around you.
Now, as an adult, it’s the daily grind of going to work everyday and coming home. I’m one of the few people in the world that enjoy my job (albeit a lot less this year since I’m not teaching…). However, the simplicity of a world where one doesn’t have to go to work would be much more interesting.
Obviously, we live in a capitalist society. I wish there was a better system that would allow people to pursue their passions and simultaneously still have much time off. I know Europe has more vacation days, but they also get paid much less than their American counterparts.
I’m not sure what the solution is, but all I know is the stress-free life that was childhood is something to be embraced. I’m hopeful to provide that in the future for children of my own someday, and live vicariously through them.
