Chief Justice Guerrero

Today, the distinguished Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court, Patricia Guerrero, graced us with her presence to bestow upon Dale the prestigious “Civic Learning Award of Excellence.” The experience was nothing short of awe-inspiring, from the moment I had the privilege of shaking her hand, to the captivating insights she shared about her life journey, and culminating in witnessing her administer the oath of office to the newly elected members of the Dale Senate.

I couldn’t be prouder of our students for their exemplary conduct as an engaged and attentive audience. Many of the students from last year’s Dale Senate also came back to take part in the momentous occassion. Their exceptional questions truly demonstrated their passion for civic learning. I must admit, I was taken aback when our principal insisted I join Justice Guerrero at the front of the room for a commemorative photograph during the plaque presentation, but it was a moment I will cherish.

Undoubtedly, this was an extraordinary opportunity, and it left me contemplating the potential for Justice Guerrero to ascend to the highest echelons of our nation’s legal system, perhaps even the Supreme Court of the United States. Until that moment arrives, she unquestionably stands as the most illustrious judge I have ever had the privilege of meeting in my lifetime.
