New Ikea Furniture

Went to Ikea today to buy a new shelf for storage purposes in our room.

We tried the meatballs for the first time today, first in the food court, and then in the full-service restaurant when we realized we ate in the wrong place. It was pretty delicious, and reminded me a lot of the Earl of Sandwich’s Holiday Turkey. Next time we go back, I will definitely indulge in my own plate instead of sharing.

Wandering through the halls of Ikea always reminds me of the movie 500 Days of Summer, and the infamous exploration scene. It also reminds me sadly of how terrible Summer (Zooey Deschanel’s) character in that movie was, giving mixed signals and leading the main protagonist on throughout the entire movie. Not sure what the lesson was in that movie other than to avoid teases. Glad I got myself a keeper.

When we got home we assembled the furniture (mostly Katherine reading the instructions though), and my dad nailing everything to the wall. It was a nice place to store my Charmander, and my newly acquired Taylor Swift trash can. We’ll figure out a way to re-assemble things later for more Feng Shui purposes.

Today’s Ikea trip became more than just a shopping excursion; it was a day filled with tasty surprises, cinematic reminiscences, and the promise of a more harmonious living space.
