Today was national cinema day and tickets were 4 dollars in movies theaters all across the United States. We subsequently went to watch Barbie which was okay, but a little overhyped. My favorite part of the movie was the Ken song.
Prior to coronavirus, I used to go to movie theaters at least 12 times a year (more when I had MoviePass). Now though it’s becoming more and more rare for me to see movies in theaters. This is mostly due to the rising costs of tickets, the convenience of streaming things at home, and the rudeness and lack of consideration of many fellow patrons at the movie theater (mostly annoying teenagers and people on their phone).
Still, there is no unique experience quite like watching a movie in a theater. The combination of sound and screen are just difficult to duplicate at home. I’m hoping in the future we can invest in a movie theater room with reclining seats whenever we can afford a house in Orange County . Who knows when that will be.
