Went to a co-teaching training today. It was pretty useless given the fact that my co-teacher did not show up, despite agreeing on that date earlier on in the year. I was hopeful for the opportunity to speak with her and discuss teaching strategies for the upcoming school year. Sadly, we will have to do it now 2 days before the school year starts, which is very last minute for a long-term planner like myself.

I was worried before that I would not be able to adapt as a co-teacher and be in the “background” of the classroom. I am used to being the “center of attention” so to speak. Now I’m worried she will not be a responsible teacher, and I will have to adapt to that.

Such is the difficulty of working with adults, I suppose. With kids, I can usually forgive them because they are still learning and making mistakes. Needless to say, it will be a challenge, but hopefully a necessary hurdle to eventually move back to teaching history in the long-term.
