8th Grade: An Awkward Finish

Much like 7th grade, 8th grade involved physical growth, but not much mental growth.

I continued to have good grades, and finally entered the “Honors track”, with my first Honors class. In 7th grade English class Mrs. Bass told other students out loud that I needed to be in Honors, and that I was “misplaced” because I was an English language learner. I subsequently had her two years in a row, and she was a decent teacher. I remember studying for her weekly vocabulary tests and memorizing the exact definition word for word. Being placed on this track further shaped my future destiny towards college and eventually teaching.

Outside of the classroom, I continued to have nerdy friends, continued to play Neopets, and continued to watch the FOX television network (specifically The O.C. and American Idol). Needless to say, I was not a social butterfly, quite awkward and quite eccentric in nature.

This was the year I became Jojo’s #1 fan on her fan-site by creating 1000 fake yahoo accounts, referring myself to create new accounts, and getting the most points on the site below.

This obviously didn’t help me with my inability to speak to females, which lasted throughout the rest of middle school. But with the coming and going of another year, middle school ended in much the same way it started, awkward.
