Our final stop in Alaska is Ketchikan. We had a simple walk for Katherine to browse the gift shops. The highlight though was seeing the luscious green scenery in a nice little hike that resembled my stairmaster routines at Planet Fitness. We also encountered some fun totem poles in the process.

It’s a nice little port city by the water that we will be unlikely to visit ever again.

In other news the Supreme Court just struck down affirmative action. This might be controversial to some but I highly believe college admissions should be based on merit and not race. In the end affirmative action whether intentional or not, punished Asians for doing well in school. Seeing the discrepancy in effort by many of my students I truly believe hard work should always be favored over everything else, including race.

As we leave Alaska I’m thankful for many of the memories we made and I hope we will continue to traverse the rest of these United States together. 45 more states to go!
