One of the most valuable lessons that my father taught me throughout my life is the importance of hard work. Growing up in Stanton and Garden Grove, my father worked tirelessly to provide for me and my five siblings, instilling in us a strong work ethic and leadership qualities that have contributed to our success today.
My father’s dedication to hard work was evident not only in his role as a provider, but also in his service to our country. He fought in the Vietnam War against the communists, and although his side may have lost, he wears his experience as a badge of honor. His commitment to his values is also reflected in his daily reminders, as he writes on every calendar, “Don’t listen to what the communists say, but look at what they do.”
As a Vietnamese-American, I am proud to carry on my father’s legacy by upholding the same values of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I am grateful for the sacrifices that my father made for our family and for his service to our country. I hope to be an equally hard-working and dedicated father to my future children, passing on the same values that my father instilled in me.
