Santiago High School

Throwback to my student teaching days at Santiago High School all the way back in 2014.

I was such a novice back then when it came to teaching. Though I had pretty good rapport with the students, I ended up being more of their “friend” than their teacher, and that backfired quickly on me the minute I took over as lead teacher. But as Malcolm Gladwell says, it takes about 1,000 hours of doing something to “master” it. I wouldn’t say I’m a master at teaching, but my years of experiences have made me better equipped with how to deal with unique situations on a day to day basis. As a teacher you truly have to be quick on your feet and act decisively in the face of chaos and unexpected unruly middle schoolers who are unpredictable as the weather.
