My friend Mayra has an irrational fear of rainbows. As we visited the Missions and Downtown Santa Barbara areas today, I couldn’t help but overhear such a ridiculous fear.
Perhaps she is afraid of things bigger than herself. Perhaps she is afraid of color (chromophobia). Whichever the case, she had to duck her head appropriately as we were driving back from Santa Barbara and saw a huge rainbow outside the car.
Even though Santa Barbara was a little uneventful, the conversations had in the living room proved themselves much more mentally and emotionally stimulating. Ironically enough, even though Mayra has a huge fear of rainbows, she chose to date one of the most colorful persons I know. I hope they have a happy relationship and descend into it with the different colors of the wind, even though it started off on very awkward circumstances. I won’t disclose too much here though.
