What better way is there to meet new people than in the presence of old dead dinosaurs at First Friday? Even so, I highly doubt most of the bone fragments at the Natural History Museum were real. However, the connections made during the time were nice, as we ended up exploring various exhibits, including a Tattoo exhibition. Needless to say, after seeing various examples of how tattoos are produced, I will refrain from ever getting one, even a Phil’s BBQ or Ron Paul one.

I wonder how interesting it would have been to live amongst dinosaurs in the real world. I imagine I would be equally as socially awkward around them as I am around my fellow humans. At least they don’t really have to communicate outside of killing one another.

That being said, I think I made a few nice connections, and even exchanged phone numbers by the end of the night. Here’s to hoping these short-term connections eventually turn into long-term ones. Even if they don’t, it’s always a pleasure encountering new people. I do think there is a spiritual energy in the world that binds people together, and that we end up encountering people for a specific reason in life.
I ended up sharing my story with the rest of the world in a rather discreet manner. I would like to think the rest is still unwritten, but the reality is nothing too interesting has happened since.

Finally, even though the bar environment is a terrible place to meet new people, it was a nice way to watch an amazing performance by my favorites – Kyle Johnson and Karlie Robinson. Even though I met them at work, I think the connections we’ve made since “surviving” at Rise Kohyang Middle School will ensure we never forget one another no matter where our paths lie next.
In terms of encountering co-workers in a non-work environment, it’s interesting, but entertaining to see how their true personalities come out outside of a professional environment.

As I continue to encounter new people, I hope to eventually expand my social network in preparation for Spring Quarter, where the goal is to create “new experiences.”. 7 more weeks until that starts.
