Today, I will be listing all the extrinsic benefits of teaching.
- Consistent Schedule. I would never want to be a doctor or lawyer, or any profession without a consistent schedule. Even though I hate waking up early, I like that the schedule doesn’t really change, and that I can plan my life accordingly. If you have to be “on call” for any job, that would probably requiring dropping plans at the blink of an eye. No thanks.
- Breaks. Winter Break. Spring Break. Summer Break. And sometimes Fall Break. I like having consistent breaks. It definitely is a perk, and will allow to me to travel each and every summer before I die.

- The Pay. The pay isn’t great, but then again, nobody goes into teaching expecting to end up a millionaire. If I end up teaching 30 years, CalStrs will hopefully still exist, and the pensions will make the 30-year ordeal very worth it.
I think that’s it, for the extrinsic benefits. Tomorrow I will go over the final reasons why I teach, which are mostly for intrinsic purposes.
