Day 28: Your Bones

Work has been long this week, mostly due to some of the discouragement I get from the lack of effort from these students. Maybe it’s a feeling that’ll come to pass, but it’s disheartening to not have as much impact on these students as I had originally hoped.

It was fun to relax with friends at a Japanese restaurant called Samurai where the chef cooked the steak, vegetables, and noodles right in front of us! LIVE!

No bones were consumed in the process. Today’s song has a very “medieval” type feel to it, but somehow reminds me of my childhood – maybe due to the Chinese dramas my parents watched as a kid. Japanese food, plus teaching about the Chinese exclusion Act in class today makes the song an obvious choice.

Said goodbye to you, my friend,
As the fire spread.
All that’s left are your bones
That will soon sink like stones.
So hold on.
Hold on to what we are.
Hold on to your heart.
