Due to a wide variety of factors, I haven’t had the opportunity to blog as much as I had hoped in the month of April. As a direct result, this “Update” is going to end up longer than usual. But first, the basics ( here’s what I did this month ):

As the final quarter of my UCSD career, it has been rather busy due to my time being spent on organizing events and get togethers (Blue Republicans, Boardgames and Drinks II, Ron Paul Rally). However, with this extended business comes a sense of time flying by much more quickly. As the days turn into nights and the weeks wane away towards graduation, I’ll eventually realize at some point how much I’ll miss San Diego. As of now though I’m really too focused on the present to actually be able to miss anything. Here are my friend tallies for this month:

I started training two new student employees at EHS to replace me. My boss thought it would sufficient to replace me with two small Asian sophomore girls. I have taught them sufficiently well, and did a good job of “supervising” whatever tasks I assign them (supervising often allows me the ability to not work myself.)

I watched the entire first season of Game of Thrones (which I won at a raffle on library walk given to me by HBO). Despite everyone telling me how “awesome” it was, me and Sid both agreed it was very slow and didn’t build up to much of a climax (or a resolution, by that matter). Now that I’m emotionally invested in the characters though, there’s probably no choice but for me to continue watching.

I also started Insanity this month, which I have kept up every single day. I’m now on the 5th week (Recovery week), and it’s just as fun as always. I don’t really feel that “fit”, but I know in terms of the food I’ve been eating in combination with the exercise I’ve been doing impedes my ability to ultimately gain weight. I’ve done a great job this month of cooking at home enough food to bring into work and microwave the next day. As for seasoning, I asked my mom how to season my food and she unfortunately gave me a bottle of MSG….

The SunGod lineup was also released this month, in what would ultimately be a partial disappointment. None of the artists have much name recognition (this directly relating to how the acts are not as mainstream this year). This is bad because there’s no real sense of excitement. HOWEVER, this is good because it prevents terrible artists like Drake and Wiz Khalifa from headlining. I do really like some Silversun pickup and Macklemore songs (having listened to them), so I really can’t complain that there’s “no one good” performing in two weeks.

Sadly, my computer also broke this month (after I temporarily went home for a day to get some delicious homemade pho [mid-April]). Though I got to see my friends Earle and Thiep I don’t know if it was worth it to lose all my data on my hard drive. Though the HP laptop lasted me a good 4 years before breaking, I am sad to be now without my 8-year accurate Itunes play count, all my music, all my movies, all my files, all my memories and all the pictures I have taken over the last 4 years. (Good thing most of them are uploaded on facebook though). This computer “death” put in Jeopardy this entire month’s calendar, but I was quickly able to recall from personal memory every single activity I did. Now people can’t claim I don’t cherish the time I spend with them, BECAUSE I REMEMBER EVERYTHING! MUAHAHA. As a direct result, I attempted to borrow Sid’s computer (but it was terribly old, slow, and couldn’t even play Insanity videos). Manuel was subsequently nice enough to let me borrow his, before I eventually make my way to buy a new one (sometime next month).

LAST, but definitely not least – RON PAUL is coming this week to UC San Diego. As a direct result, every single thing rides on the success of Friday night. With already 3,000 reservations on hand, I expect this rally to be huge (as I increasingly advertise and coordinate volunteers for the event all week). We will be chalking and flyering everywhere until every student knows about the event. Hopefully I will be able to MEET the man himself; a picture with him would absolutely make my year.

In the end, with the Ron Paul Rally and Sun God 2012 being next month, the final quarter of my adventures here at UCSD are bound to be extraordinary.
