This was one of the more unique Februaries in my life with it being not only the culmination of activities following January’s tragedy, but also what will be one of the few “leap days” of my life. Let’s have a look see at the events that transpired throughout these 29 days.

I tried a variety of activities in an effort to move further forward in my life. My current emotional status is relatively healthy, but not quite up to par pre-February 2011 levels. In an effort to further do so I have vastly tried to approve several arenas in my life.

SPIRITUALLY: I’m not the most religious person in the world, but in an effort to improve spiritual relations, I’m open to the idea of attending church, Bible Studies, Large groups, Small Groups, or even through the consumption of Bible or Buddhist passages. Alternatively, I’m open to the idea of rational thought and intelligent never-ending conversations about life and what it means to be human.

INTELLIGENCE: In reading various books, I’m trying to acquire a better understanding of fiscal economics as well as the fundamentals of history from alternative points of view (in contrast to what we’ve been exposed to from an early age).

POP CULTURE: Watching movies on IMBD’s top 100, or even movies rated by critics to be the best of all time have allowed me to understand society from different perspectives (ultimately different generations of people living).

EXPANDING FRIENDSHIPS: Hanging out with more people in search for a new clique has allowed some internal soul-searching. Inevitably I’ll be leaving in roughly 4-5 months, so it’s not going to matter much who I get attached to at this point. (I WILL DEFINITELY MISS MOST PEOPLE THOUGH). (TOP 11 of February below)

NEW ORGANIZATIONS: I’m open to the idea of joining new clubs – henceforth why I gave MultiCultural Co-existence, Nikkei Student Union, and even R.P.G. club a chance. The chances of me staying in most of these clubs are unlikely, but as a Senior entering my last quarter of college my ability to socialize with strangers has vastly improved (in direct contrast to how awkward I was at the Undergraduate Communication Society my Fall Quarter of Freshman Year)….

CHARITY: I don’t mean this in monetary forms, but simply lending my time to helping other people achieve happiness as well. With the amount of free time I have, it’s completely possible for me to notice when a friend is feeling down, subsequently giving me the ability to try my best to alleviate their pain. In other ways, I’m doing the same thing with strangers. On February 3rd, a female professor (complete stranger) went up to my EHS cart looking for directions to the Dolores Huerta Room (she was giving a special talk to a crowd of students). I gladly and happily drove her there, and walked her to the building (because she couldn’t find it). I felt awesome as a subsequent result not because I was violating my cart privileges, but because I felt like I was doing a good deed. Because nothing really feels genuinely happy inside me except for those moments when people around me are like that, I aspire to help people around me (privately, and not through government intervention obviously).

ACADEMICS: With virtually no classes of use/necessity this quarter is proving to be lacking in academics. Subsequently, free time arises that I have no idea what to do with. Next quarter, with my last history seminar, I hope to fill in gaps in my schedule with studying.

In terms of improvements for March I want to essentially start: 1) COOKING 2) Doing activities with people outside of “eating” 3) Go to gym and/or exercise 4) Be more involved in club activities, dedicate more time to Youth for Ron Paul 5) Try new things (with new clubs), meet new strangers, etc. while at the same time cherishing the remainder of my time with my old friends 6) Sign up to tutor for Preuss (and maybe University High as well) next quarter.

I intend to use clubs, meetings, tutoring, EHS, studying, and various other mechanisms to fill in my gap for the remaining quarter, as well as for the final months of what will eventually be my last quarter at UCSD. The end.
