With my return to Garden Grove (through flying all the way back to John Wayne airport), it was time for me to cherish the remaining time I still had in my hometown through various endeavors, which included: hanging out with friends, and some micro-conversations with my family. With it being now 2012, 4 years after my graduation from high school, not much has changed in the way of my friendships. The deterioration that has occurred within other factions (F&G) has tended to have been with friendships perhaps not as strong, not able to sustain the physical barrier of distance or time.

Thursday was relatively tame as Earle, Thiep, me, Triet, and Vu all went to a local Soju bar in the Korean District of Garden Grove. We met up with Earle’s friend Howie and David as we consumed some Soju, played some drinking games (Titanic, ugh), and then proceeded to play pool under the influence. David left, so it was the remaining few of us that were able to play the game. I got a bunch of shots in, despite still losing in the end with my team-mate Triet.

Only Earle, Howie, and I remained to sing Karaoke till 2 AM in the morning. It turned less into karaoke and more into  deep conversations, including Howie’s personal tragedies with romance (which obviously I will not elaborate to a general audience). I managed to tell Earle he was my best friend though, after all that we’ve been through.

Friday remained a brief stint of micro-adventures that didn’t really add up to much. Brian Nguyen, whom I haven’t seen in forever, came over, and we just talked for a bit, before Triet, Vu, and Thiep joined us. We all went to Jack in the Box for them to get food before going back to my house to play both Bang (me and Brian won in 2 turns), and Poker (I was the first player out…).By the way, Brian’s food was absolutely disgusting in that he put two tacos inside a Jumbo Jack. WHO DOES THAT.

All of us males and Earle met up with Tran Tran at Cafe T where we simply just caught up and talked and played cards before ultimately leaving.

What gave me of a bit of hope was seeing such an interesting post in the middle of the bulletin board, SO INTRIGUING THAT I HAD TO TAKE A PICTURE. Go ahead and take a look see.

Saturday was relaxing as well, as me and Earle joined Theresa and Tim at Island’s to grab some delicious lunch, before going to Porto’s for some refreshing dessert. It was only afterwards I would crash Earle’s place, fall asleep, and fall to transfer my files in an orderly fashion. We called it quits so I could simply go home and eat dinner.

Hanging out with family was a secondary cause, as I engaged in various family dinners and some weak future-based conversations. Eventually the weekend ended with a traditional visit to Phil’s (this time at San Marcos).
