Day 2 of Volunteering, and I got to help some kids learn about binary today at the Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival.

To a packed room, the instructor taught eager young minds about binary, before having them do a bit of “coding” themselves. By the end of it all they created a magnet and bracelet with a hidden code on it (usually their first initial).

There’s no guarantee that life is easy, and this week’s catalog will come straight from the mature stylings of Miley Cyrus (the grown up version). Seeing these kids at the library today allowed me to understand that there will be some bright young minds taking over our planet (the ones that want to learn). This is in contrast to some of the students I have to deal with on a daily basis, but that’s another story.
When I look at you, I see the future.
Everybody needs inspiration
Everybody needs a song
A beautiful melody, when the night’s so long
‘Cause there is no guarantee, that this life is easyYeah, when my world is falling apart
When there’s no, light to break up the dark
That’s when I, I, I look at you
