Day 82: Nobody’s Home

After a long day of work, I went home to some peace and quiet. Nobody’s Home except for me, because my apartment mate’s parents came to visit.

Today in tutoring I had my students read “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. Rather than lecturing them about non-conformity (which the poem arguably ISN’T about), I had them realize that the road was an extended metaphor for the decisions they make in their lives. I know those eight are headed in the right direction, in contrast to some 40% of my other students.

She wants to go home
But nobody’s home
That’s where she lies
Broken inside
With no place to go
No place to go
To dry her eyes
Broken inside
