Whoever coined the phrase “Patience is a virtue” was most definitely not lying. Patience amounts to essentially being able to withstand long periods of waiting, something I had to tackle this particular week.

I went ahead and added up all the waiting times listed above. It comes down to roughly 13 hours of waiting this week, which is quite an impressive feat. There are plenty of times when conditions beyond your control (like traffic) can delay an inevitable encounter or meeting. You end up spending much of your time also waiting for other people to be free. Of course, there are situations where you can alleviate waiting (such as making appointments for the DMV), or of course being more specific in planning your life schedule. At the end of the day, being late is not as bad as flaking in my book.
Whichever the case, patience is absolutely essential in maintaining relationships and friends. Sometimes you have to wait for other people to open up to you, or be willing to spend time with you. Sometimes because of various emotional factors people aren’t exactly the same as they once were. I’ll be honest to say this week started off terribly, but because of my friends and their patience with my emotions, I was able to get through it and end on a high note. It took some time, but my heart is mending as we speak, and I’m very patient with my emotions in that sense.
I also got a guitar, which would encompass patience in the sense that you need to have plenty of it in order to be able to play. It’s not easy learning chords and muscle memory, but if it makes me become a better person, music becomes the remedy to all problems big and small.

The End Result: I get an A for effort! Because in the end, waiting is a virtue. While doing is arguably more important, it’s also important to realize you don’t want to hit the peak of happiness in your life too soon.
In the end I come out of this stronger than ever with a new perspective on life. Rather than pursuing a search for something intangible, I’ll leave it up to fate to ultimately happen.
