Another year has passed, and with it, another standard reflection of this year’s key moments and highlights. And yet, this year was far from being just a “standard” year, ultimately surpassing all my expectations.
I started 2023 off engaged. I now end 2023 married. Our wedding in February was a momentous occasion; the day itself will go down in the history books as the best day of my (our) lives. And yet the adventure doesn’t stop there, with of course Katherine moving in as we adjust to the day-to-day routine of living together. It’s been a blast adapting to one another and of course having the pleasure of waking up to “the one” every morning. Here’s to countless meals and journeys ahead, woven together by happiness, health, and infinite love.
I started off 2023 with a good group of friends from my past experiences in life – high school, college, anime expo, and the workforce. I end 2023 with the same group of friends. Though time is a limited resource when married, I am grateful to maintain and nurture those relationships as much as possible so that they will remain essential components in my life for centuries to come. Here’s to future celebrations—baby showers, Phil’s BBQ trips (this year I met the owner!) housewarmings, and gatherings that will shape our life trajectories in years to come.
I started off 2023 as a history teacher, reaching the peak of my teaching when Southern California Honda gave me $5000 in school supplies in May. I end 2023 as a special education teacher, not exactly a role perfectly suited for me, but a role I am adjusting to as best as possible co-teaching and of course writing legally mandated individualized education plans. Though the passion in the new role isn’t exactly the same, I look forward to the Lead Program in 2024, where I will get an administrative services credential for potential use in the future. Here’s to wrapping up the rest of the school year in a fitting fashion and moving back to history by the end of the year (fingers crossed*).
2024 will bring a new set of adventures, with the possibility of new post-marriage possibilities. Will a house be purchased? Will a baby be conceived? Those are questions to answer another time. As of right now though, 2023 will remain the most significant and impactful year of my life. Thank you to Katherine, and to everybody this year that has made it special.
