Summer didn’t mean a whole lot to me growing up as a child in Stanton or Garden Grove. Mostly because my family never went on vacations or did anything particularly fun/unique to the season. Also, before the advent of high speed internet, I was mostly bored at home dying in the heat (no air conditioning either).
As an adult, summer is quite the opposite. Now, it’s quickly moving up the ranks as one of the best seasons and most memorable in my life. Because I actually get to enjoy summer vacations at whatever destination I choose. It also happens to have key landmark dates, the beginning of my relationship with Katherine, and of course her birthday.
I still remember our exciting summer trip to Hawaii in 2022 and Alaska in 2023, both memorable in uniquely different ways.
I imagine we’ll be back in Hawaii sometime in the future, perhaps to explore the other wonderful islands. Not next summer though, with our next major vacation to be DisneyWorld in 2024.
With 50-100 summers potentially left in my life, I imagine we’ll have many more spots to go to knock off our bucket list.
