The rising price of gas has obviously shook me to the core. Unlike other states, California’s gas prices are higher for a multitude of reasons (including a self imposed gas tax chosen by the voters). Obviously, a “solution” to this is to switch to electric vehicles. But this is not a solution affordable by most families living in the United States. And obviously not one I will do at the moment.

I will drive my car until it completely gets destroyed. At presently 78,000 miles, I have about 120000 more to go before I imagine it will face the difficulties of old age. Imagining I drive around 8000-10000 miles a year, it’s going to take at least 12 years for me to get to that point.

Maybe by then, electric cars will be affordable for a teacher like me.

Until then, I’ll continue dreaming of the good old days, when gas was 1.99 in Las Vegas in 2015.
