My two favorite Koreans also happen to be two of the greatest teachers of the year. I’m happy they both escaped the perils of bright star to move onto better things, namely teaching independent studies and of course teaching in suburbia.
Sam Choi’s calmness and sincerity combined with Eugene Hahn’s humor and charisma are forces to be reckoned with. The best part about these men is that they are the opposite of the atypical Koreans. Rather than being broody and toxic, they are instead calm, sincere, and beta in nature. Wonderful combinations of true masculinity.
We ate of course delicious Korean feasts with them, with cold noodles and hot brisket. Though the food will leave my system soon, their personas will forever be in my heart.
