Colin Yamashita has taught me many things in life. Here are the 10 greatest contributions he has provided me:
- Be tough and command respect from your students through a loud voice and a clear presence.
- Play good music for others, including songs from roughly 50 years ago.
- Eat at as many chain restaurants as you can in your life, including the delicious Golden Corral.
- Recommend restaurants to your friends that will have staples in them for some extra iron and protein.
- Apply for as many awards and contests as possible, and win the Disney100 contest somehow even though John Tran should have won instead.
- If your daughter is dating a boy who is a thug, make sure to get into a speeding contest with him and track him down.
- Stay young at heart by continuing to surround yourself with people younger than yourself.
- Be a loving and dedicated husband and father.
- Send out as many emails as possible at work to keep your co-workers in check and show them who’s boss.
- If your girlfriend is cheating on you, book a flight to Hawaii and spy on her on purpose in order to catch her in the act.
In all seriousness, Colin has been a wonderful friend over the years and I’ll always be eternally grateful to him for DJ’ing my wedding.
