Amul Shah was not just my roommate at UCSD; he was my favorite roommate over the course of my four-year stay. He was always up for anything, whether it be pretending to study at Geisel, indulging in board games, or trying out new restaurants, even if they weren’t always vegetarian or vegan-friendly.
Amul’s heart shines through in everything he does. He is one of the most empathetic people I have ever met and has the ability to genuinely connect with people from all walks of life. Whether dealing with abrasive or calm personalities, he is always compassionate and calming. Despite his incredible people skills, he never seeks to be the center of attention and instead focuses on building positive relationships with those around him.
As Amul potentially moves to a new city in the following months to begin a new chapter in his life, I wish him all the luck and success he deserves. I will always remember how helpful he was during college, especially when I faced any problems or drama, particularly those related to ICRA.
I am confident that we will remain friends for many years to come, sharing experiences such as playing board games like Dominion and meeting up occasionally to catch up. Amul’s positive influence on my life and the lives of others is something that I will always cherish.
