I woke up to this pleasantly worded email to me this morning in my inbox.
Teaching is one of those professions that is the opposite of instant gratification. Most of the times, you never see the effect you have on children. By the time they graduate high school, they have long forgotten you.
Needless to say, a note like this is a simple reminder that we have an impact on the people we encounter, no matter how big or small. I hope my students, even the annoying ones, are in a better place and have bright futures ahead of them. Till then I’ll continue teaching no matter where I end up in the years to come. It’s going to be ambiguous where I end up next year due to budget cuts within the district though.
