Bridgette Quan and I started the same year at Rise. And yet I hardly ever talk to her. Mostly because she works on the other side of the campus from me. That being said, our conversations are usually very short and sweet, and it’s very reassuring that she shares similar sentiments as me about certain things.
I obviously disagree with her taste on bbq seeing as she ordered a veggie burger at Phil’s BBQ. However, we both agree that since coming to Rise, every year has been a different and unique experience. I’m sure she’s shaping up to be the next Christine Snyder (our former mentor who taught us so much about teaching). And though she loves Santa Barbara as much as I love San Diego, she doesn’t love this painting that she made with her friend, so she gave it to me.
And so, I have now hung it up on my classroom next to a painting I made with an Indian roughly 2 years ago.
Maybe in the future instead of a classroom full of movie posters, I’ll have a collection of paintings from various Paint Nights.
