How to Fail at Execution of a Cherry Blossom Festival

With the magic of spring in the air, and the coming of new adventures, comes my first ever visit to a Cherry Blossom Festival. As you can probably tell from the title, it was a little underwhelming. It was at the Huntington Beach Library. My expectations were really high, expecting something like the following image:

Instead, what we got were trees that looked like these:

Parking was a nightmare, but I’m guessing many people came excited looking to see some beautiful cherry blossoms.

Needless to say, there were very few trees that actually had cherry blossoms on them, and for the ones that did, there were barely any.

Luckily, I did not take to a date to this festival, for she would probably storm off disappointed. Or a wife for that matter, who would probably file divorce papers shortly after the visit.

In all seriousness, the event was reminiscent of a college walkway with many booths set up, and some food vendors. There were many complaints lodged on the facebook page I noticed afterwards, including the following:

I’m sure the organizers did their due diligence and tried their best, but sadly nature was not on their side. Hopefully next year they can move the festival to another date when the trees are in full bloom.

Let’s hope this Blossom Festival isn’t a metaphor for how this spring will turn out, for I’m highly anticipating new and better adventures to come this season.

In other news, I highly suggest watching “Love, Simon”, which surprised me at how heartwarming it was.
